Hmm .. I'm using on-board sound to my Sherwood DTS, then to my PG Octane 5 channel amp. I just got it working Sunday and it snowed here yesterday so I havn't had a dry day to work on the car. Once I finish getting the rest setup, I'll see if I can get the same problem as you.

im using an NX now. works okay, but im looking for something else that can output dual stereo.. or worse comes to worst a stereo only DAC.
The CMSS settings for dual stereo doesnt stick after reboot.... so its kinda lame. and if you turn off cmss, you lose your rear channels. This sound card COULD be really good, if it had better software... its just too bad none of the 3rd party drivers work on it, otherwise i would consider keeping it.

no, dual stereo.. its under the CMSS settings. Basically its the same signal as the front speakers, but using the rear outputs. basically its what you would want to emulate a regular ol stereo without having to use any splitters, etc.

Is that card supported by the Kx drivers? If so, they are definitely the way to go. They allow you to do basically anything you could ever imagine with the DSP. Sounds amazing with my Live 5.1 and I've only just BEGAN to understand how to set up a proper DSP and going active via the drivers.

unfortunately no.. i wish it was. kxproject doesnt support the USB versions as its a completely different chipset...
if only there was someone who could build a working driverset... that would be awesome.

So peeps, should I invest in a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX?
What I want is front and rear with a 12inch sub.
Source would be coming from line out of motherboard and then feeding into the NX.
Now I know the boys over @ XTroniC were working on a USB digital AMP, any word on that?

why would you feed the line out from the motherboard to the NX? the NX is a soundcard by itself, so you would just hook the NX directly to your amps.

The amp is nearly finished, pictures will be available later today... It's a stereo DAC + amplifier with analog fader adjustment and line out for a sub amp.
Keep an eye on our site...

Forgot it was USB driven, DOH!
So either I invest in one of these or wait for XTroniC to drop there price on the amp

I use an NX, and I find the card great for providing an optical connection to my processor (Alpine 701). There are a few caveats, tho:
1. CMSS and all effects must be off...I have yet to find the processed effect that I like
2. Volume must be at 100%...it doesn't make any sense from a sound quality standpoint to do software volume control when you're outputting over S/PDIF...any digital attenuation done of the original signal when you're outputting in the same fixed digital format can be seen as a loss of resolution. I don't know what the card is doing re-sampling-wise, but there is a definite loss of clarity when the volume is messed with.
Which brings me to another annoyance...I don't know what the issue is, but sometimes I find that my volume in Windows changes without me changing it. There has been many an occaision where I've found myself going nuts trying to figure out what went wrong with my sound, then found that my volume in Windows was at 75%.

heh.. im actually thinking of selling my nx and picking up a behringer dac.. or perhaps two of them?
anyhow.. usually output over SPDIF is a line out with no variable volume. so usually your processor should take care of any volume changes.
the CMSS setting you may want is the "Dual stereo" option. F+R output the same signal. Im not familiar with the alpine, but im assuming it takes a 4 channel setup.
I have issues with mine when it gets too hot.. the sound card likes to mute itself on and off. :P

Did you upgrade and flash the firmware? There was some upgrades to the drivers as well since the original distro of the software that is on the CD.
