Subs?

I have a computer enclosed in a metal case (i dont know if thats the problem). I had two subs installed and the computer is located directly behind one of the subs. The next day after installation my computer would not turn on. I checked with an voltmeter and it is still getting juice but the lcd light that indicates power doen not come one and it appears to have no power. I talked with a friends dad and he said that the subs might have fried the hardrive with its electromagnatism. Is this a possability of has my power unit just gone out and needs to be replaced?

Thanks
Ben

Well you definetly dont want any magnets around the hard drives, cuz it will erase everything. If the hard drive got messed up, you will still see the BIOS screen or something on the screen.

First off, what kind of computer is it?
Mobo type, processor, desktop, mini atx, laptop, etc?

Could be a failed mobo also.

Does your board have an led that indicates if it is receiving power?

If it's "off", the problem likely resides in the power supply or the feed to it. It could still be a fried mobo though...........

Thats the problem i dont know what kind of computer it is. I baught the car and it was in it. I didnt have a problem until i installed the subs. However it was the same time as winter also. It was in the low 20's for a while there but it warmed up for a couple of weeks and still did not work.

Yes there is a LED light but it wont light up at all so thats what makes me think it is the power suply because i checked the wire that connects into it and it has power.

Is it a p4?

A mobile?

Celeron?

Look for identification marks on the board-google is your freind there.

What kind of ps? DC-DC? Inverter?

Does it have an atx connector? If it does, try another PS from a desktop and plug it inot the wall. If the led comes on, the ps was bad. If it doesn't, you've got a mobo problem. if it posts and doesn't boot, harddrive problem.

It's possible you wiped the mobo's bios chip with the sub magnet depending on exactly what happened when you installed it.

Sorry, but you're just not giving out enough info here for even an educated guess. These are just "stabs in the dark".

Good luck
