Question Whole System Issue

This is the situation... I have a 2004 Accord with 2x12" on a 1000w amp and the stock 6.5's in the front and replacement 6x9's in the back... Everything has been working peachy keen for about a year but about a week ago I noticed my subs we not hitting.. After a brief inspection of the wires making sure everything was secure they were still not hitting (power light active). So after checking over the wires once or twice more I get back in the car and continue driving... But now an awful crackling is coming from all 4 speakers (sub and amp are disconnected at this point).

So today I finally got a change to look it over and it really seems nothing is out of the ordinary unless I'm looking in the wrong places. I checked the connections in the back of the head unit all the way to the speakers. The wiring of the regular speakers is completely stock with the exception that I had to shave some plastic off of the back wire so I could attach the speaker wire for the 6x9's I replaced (Accord have the 'clip in' type of speaker connection). Since that is the only altercation I have made (besides sub/amp which are completely disconnected) I would think that is the problem point but even when I disconnect the back 2 6x9's the front 6.5's still sound super blown which is really ****ing me off because that is still stock ****.

What could my problem possibly be?

Also: I use the stock head unit with a high-low converter but shouldn't matter, it is disconnected at this point.

Is/was the stock head unit handling power for the 6X9's and the stock front?

Being as the sound is coming from all four speakers at once, I'd at least check over stock connections for the head unit, including system ground...and I wouldn't be at all surprised to find a shakey +12V (check ACC, if that's what you were using to remote your aftermarket amp) wire or loose speaker connection. That, and a dusty potentiometer (volume knob internals) or other internal dust can cause that kind of noise in all speakers...

Sounds like a problem I had when I first started getting into car audio. Turns out my head unit's outputs were bad.

They became bad because I was running too many speakers in parallel..causing the ohms to drop to almost nothing.

However you said you messed around with the connections and produced a new problem.

I suggest unhooking everything, then re-doing it all over again making sure all the connections are clean and tight.
