Increase in Voltage needed...

I recently bought the David Navone N-66A POP eliminator, but it won't work on my system.

I dug out the old voltmeter, and found that the remote line without the N-66A was kicking out around 10.5V, just enough to power up the Amp. With the N-66A in place however, this is reduced down to about 8V which is not enough.

Is there a way I can increase the Voltage back up closer to the recommended 12V?

Please help, my eardrums can't take any more popping!

So would I need a 5 or 6V relay, or a 12V?

Seems to me your device _is_ a relay with a controlled delay on. Whatever it is it should not load your battery voltage down to 8V. Not even if it is at the output of the device you are measuring. (In that case, does input stay at 10.5V when N-66A is connected?)

You have a problem already when the battery is down at 10.5V. I should pay a visit to a car electrician.

About relays; you should definitely not buy anything else than a 12V car relay (if you do need one)

Well, if you want to spend the money its ok to buy a solid state relay :-)

When the N66-A is connected the output is reduced to 8.5V. Seems it is creating far too much resistance. I read most car relays will not operate below 9V, so it looks like I have a problem. I guess I could run a larger gauge wire to the N66-A, that way the input voltage should be higher. Might that work?

The instructions that come with the N66-A tell you what kind of relay you can use. It also will require a diode. Bigger wire size probably won't help at all. Find your instructions.

Would love to, but I've lost them. Kept every bit of scrappy paper during my install except that one! Typical. David Navone has suggested I buy http://www.davidnavone.com/cart.asp?14&pid=183 So I'll do that and see if this solves the problem. Meanwhile I'll look into why my input voltage is so poor.

The product David suggested worked like a charm and was very easy to install. No more pop - Hoorah!!!

Have a look at http://www.davidnavone.com/ and go to pulse triggers. It's the N-Trig-Lo that was recommended, but I seem to have had the HD version sent, which is the one that works. I only paid for the other one so I'm not complaining
