2005 Pontiac Sunfire MP3 PLayer Problem / Replacment?

I just purchased a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire with the 200 watt, 8 speaker Monsoon sound system (the sun and sound package).

The trouble- the CD player will take the CD half in, act as though it is going to take it the rest of the way, then it never does. Any fixing this or does the entire CD player have to be replaced?

If so, how difficult of a project is it to replace? I have a Pioneer 180 watt cd player (probably from wal mart). Will it be ok to put this in my sunfire??

Thanks.

Bronco - the name mp3car is a holdover from the early days when you couldn't put an actual computer in your car. That's what this forum is about. You'll probably get better answers on car stereos in another forum unless a knowledgeable user stumbles across this post.

Thread moved to car audio general. This is not a FAQ.

From my previous experience I knew that the staffs over there are really very helpful and extremely skilled in solving any kind of problem and I was right. back on topic, the difficulty really depends on how comfortable you are wiring/working on your car-- it should be very minimal, you will probably need a harness adapter, a dash kit (sometimes called a radio install kit) and the harness from the new radio, from there it is as simple as soldering the coresponding wires from the 2 harnesses together, and then installing it in the car using the dash kit.

I would upgrade it, but if you want try fixing it yourself it might be an easy fix. I would guess something is just bent in your old deck, you should be able to take it apart and see whats causing it to stop loading.
