i need help... i have a 300 watt Jensen amp and 2 12in insignia subs. my amp was workin good for about 1 week and then me and my bro hooked up a kenwood 600 watt amp to them to see if it would work. but when we hooked my old amp back up the protect light was on. i was wonderin if anyone has any suggestions, i would really appreciate it.

open your speaker box, check all the wires to see if the positive and negative wires have somehow come in contact causing your amps circuit protection to light up.

sounds like an impedance problem. how did you wire the two subs to the amp?

we need to know more. specs on the amp, specs on the sub (voice coil amount and impedance)

There are only 2 possibilites: wiring issue or equiptment failure.
If you have a meter check the impedances of the speakers that they are correct and not shorting out.
Did you accidentally wire in the power wires incorrectly or backwards at any pont when you were reinstalling the amp? Doing that on some amps, even for a sec, can destroy a good working amp.

Simply put, I had this issue when the positive and negative wires on one of my speakers touched each other. What happened was that somehow I broke the thing on the speaker that holds the two terminals for the speaker wire.

I'd try disconnecting each speaker wire from the amp, one at a time, and by process of elimination, see which speaker is causing the protect light to come on and then start by checking the connection to that speaker and follow the wire back to where it connects to the amp looking for problems with that wire.
