Well I was under the impression from the image I seen that it accepted standard wires.

For example, you would simply connect the + and - wire directly to the inputs on the amp. Just like stock speakers are hooked up. Instead of going to a speaker, it would go to the amp.

But again, I may be wrong as I have not seen a decent picture of the amp.

The amp doesn't matter, it's gonna be the deck. From the deck you have the wiring harness to connect it to power, speakers, etc. Most aftermarket decks have RCA jacks on the back, some have just outies and some have outies as well as innies (for mp3 players and the like). Since stock decks don't have RCA outs on them you splice into (generally) the rear speakers and wire in a line out converter where you plug you amp in.
