2 ch sound card + 5 ch amp - will it give me 5 ch sound?

Hi guys, sound is not my strong side, so I'm kinda lost in here. Right now my carpc is hooked up to the sound system thru HU->Aux Input. I'm planning on loosing HU and use carpc thru amp. But here is a question I cannot understand. If I use onboard 2 ch sound card hooked up to a 5 channel amp (4 speakers + sub), will it give me 5 channel sound or not?
Thanks in advance.

SPDIF will work, but you're going to need a DAC of some sort.

You can try splitting and re-splitting the simple stereo, but I honestly believe the output signal will degrade enough to make it not worth your while.

it drives me nutz.... I cannot figure out what do I need to make 4+1 sound (
I have a pc with onboard sound which is 2 channel I believe. It's Sound Blaster, AC '97.
I also have USB sound card Thurtle Beach, which is 5.1.
What do I need to get 4.1 sound? (4 speakers + sub)? Do I need 5 channel amp (one speaker per channel + another amp for sub)? How do I hook up amp to PC Sound Card?
Sorry for stupid questions,
Thanks in advance.
