Amp keeps going into protected mode

I had a dual channel 620 watt amp in my truck that was bridged to one 12". Then I went and bought a 1000 watt amp and now whenever I turn that amp up at all it goes into protected mode. I took it to bestbuy and they tested it and it was good. I also put a 1200 watt amp in that my friend let me borrow and it did the same thing. I bought a capacitor and I am waiting on it to be shipped. Is that the problem? Could it be something else? I'm pretty new with all this stuff so any help would be great, thanks.

So if you changed the amp and started having the problem, and you tried to diagnoise the problem by changing the the amp agian. What else in the equation is left?
The speaker and the speaker wiring!

Check your impedances of the speaker itself, and make sure if it is a DVC sub that the impedance is not wired too low for the amp to accept.
