Pioneer DEH-P980BT to PC via 1/8" stereo

I have just installed a Pioneer DEH-P980BT.

I had the music from my PC connected to my stock head unit with an FM adapter and it worked ok. With the Pioneer unit, the "Aux in" has an 1/8" stereo plug which I have connected to the PC line out (just like before).

The problem is that the HU only activates the "Aux1" when it has recognized a device on the input. It doesn't recognize the PC at all so the Source menu does not even have an option on the menu for Aux input.

It's got to be something simple, but what. Any ideas?

Thanks

Checked the manual quickly, it's just like mine.

1. Turn the deck off (hold source until off)
2. press and hold the multi-control (big nob) until Language select shows up on the display
3. Turn multi-control nob until aux1 shows up in the display
4. Press the multi-control nob to toggle off/on.
5. hit the button to exit (can't remember which button, sorry! try source)

Thanks Tidder. That is exactly what needed to be done. It works great now.

I guess it say's to do what you told me somewhere else in the manual. Maybe that is why we are always told to read the manual completely before operating.

The following is a quote I read from my manual:

"Using the AUX source
This unit can control up to two auxiliary equipments
such as VCR or portable devices (sold
separately). When connected, auxiliary equipments
are automatically read in as AUX
sources and assigned to AUX1 or AUX2. The
relationship between AUX1 and AUX2
sources is explained below.
About AUX1 and AUX2
You have two methods to connect auxiliary
equipments to this unit.
AUX1 source:
When connecting auxiliary equipment using a
stereo mini plug cable
% Insert the stereo mini plug into the
AUX input jack on this unit.
For more details, refer to the installation manual.
The allocation of this auxiliary equipment is
automatically set to AUX1."

Thanks again

No prob man, the manual is pretty freaking confusing, so I don't blame you. Even if you HAD read the manual, it's pretty cryptic as to what exactly to do.
