So here's the plan..

I just recently purchased a base model 2005 Ford Freestyle and was looking to put in a CarPC / new speakers with an amp as the stock stereo is nothing great. So after doing a little bit of research and looking around I decided to do the speakers first, then CarPC with the amp after, since I can only fund one project at a time. So right now, I'm basically looking for feedback on what I intend on doing.

For speakers I think I settled on these. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...TSA6872&tp=105 A friend of mine actually has these exact speakers and they sound great, so that's reassuring. So I am going to pick up 2 pairs of those along with this amp. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...115&tab=review. Along with that I'm going to grab the Rockford wiring kit for the amp as they will toss in an extra year on the warranty if I use their kit.

I'm wondering though, do you think I could run these four speakers off the stock head unit with stock wiring without an amp for a month or two?

Those speakers will run fine off the head unit, that amp is probably too powerful for them,. Do you already have 6x8" speaker mounts in the front of the car? Because they will sound a bit muddy, so I wouldn't be relying on them for the main front stage, they will be fine for rear fill though. If you can I would try to get some cheaper 6" splits for the front, maybe the Jaycar Response ones if you are on a budget.

that amp is not too powerful for the speakers, no amp is too powerful... you just have to set your gains correctly and you'll have the added bonus of something called 'headroom'.

as far as running those off the stock hu, you'll be fine they have a 90db sensitivity which will handle the low power from the head unit just fine.
