Over 1500 rpms kill amp? Please Help

I have installed a punch p400-4. It plays great when the car is at idle. As soon
as you rev over 1500 rpms the amp cuts off. the blue power light goes dim then
out. As soon as you go under 1500 rpms it cuts back on. I have checked the power
going into the amp and the power stays around 16.4 volts even when the amp light
is off and no sound. The remote power is also 16.4. No other light come on the
amp.

16.4 volts is extremely high. The max it should be is 14.5v (or there abouts) I would say that your amp is going into protection mode from the voltage being too high.

Ya, when you rev, it causes the alternator to throw more power into the battery, putting more power into the electrical system as far as I know. So the higher power is doing exactly what they said.
