USB option for SPDIF output to processor? Anyone see this - Audiotrak Prodgy Cube

http://slsing.com/?p=1838

I really want to build my car-pc on a nano platform, which rules out being able to pick a good PCI soundcard for both bit-perfect and SPDIF outputs to a processor. I've been hunting for a USB solution and this is what I've found so far. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I've been reading that SQ over USB anything is poor - is that to generalized, or is that now acepted as fact?

Good SQ external sound "cards" are very limited to say the least. I'd recommend looking into M-Audio's products. They are a bit pricier but you get what you pay for in this category. I went with a firewire 410 and I'm very happy with it after going through 3 different lower cost USB solutions.

I've actually seen the 410 during my searching. The thing that first catches my attention is that it's about 5 years old and touts the firewire as a faster alternative to USB 1.1. It just makes me think there are newer, USB 2.0 options available.

Are you using the SPDIF out?

You've got me looking at other M-audio products now Looks like they have gone to USB everything now.
Looking at the transit, interesting. All I need in a good SPDIF connection and drivers support, so maybe it would fit the bill? http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit.html
