Moved my PC, now crakling audio.. :(

RESOLVED:

Moved my Carputer setup from underneath rear seat to trunk area. Afterwards I noticed that at certain points in music, Usually the "High's" there is noticable crackling in the audio. I figured I might have a poor ground or something. To test this theory I plugged the front speakers 3.5 jack that comes out of a PCI Sound card into my laptop. There was no crackling from the laptop audio...The sound card is a SB Live 5.1 with KX Drivers on a flexible single riser. Any ideas what I could do here?

Funny, after months of trying to figure this out I have finally found the culprut. I know this isn't Audio Hardware rleated now but for future reference it was WINAMP's pre amp option. It was enabled at 0 db and disabling it cleaned up the audio and my crackles are gone..

I am glad you have shared this. I noticed the crackling as well and just have not had time to diagnose it. I use the Winamp preamp function as I feel that I need the extra volume from the internal laptop sound card. I will disable it and confirm as well.

Thanks.

Yeah give it a try. I'd rather crank the gain on my amps and such than hear that crackling. Let us know what happens.
