Limit Bluetooth Phone Call to 2 Speakers

I was wondering if it was possible when i'm talking via bluetooth to have speakers only comming from my 2 back speakers, instead of all 4 for now.

The problem is i am having echo issues with the person i am talking to because when they speak the sound is coming out of my speaker and getting redirected to my mic, so they hear an echo. I dont have acoustic echo cancellation in my mic, but i hear i can get a phoneix soho conference pci card which will resolve the problem, but i live in canada and it ends up being quite expensive. Not sure how much of a difference i will hear with echo when only using the back speakers, but i must see some improvements, haven't tested yet.

I currently have a pci sound card, for all 4 of my speakers, but would a secondary sound card benefit from this? Essentially i want all my music and everything playing out of 4 speakers and then when taking on bluetooth to use only those 2 back speakers. Not sure if i can tell bluetooth to use which soundcard, but when i click on advanced audio in my bt device it give me the option to select audio output.

Any ideas? or is this just not possible. Just thinking about possible workaround for the echo for the moment.

Maybe i'm just better off hooking a switch to my microphone so i have to push the switch in order to use the microphone. Since my microphone doesn't have a on/off switch, how is this accomplished. i'm sure i just need to splice into the wires of the mic, but not sure what wires are inside. Any suggestions..?

as for the rear speakers only idea, you should do a call with the fader set all the way to the back and see if it stops the echos before doing anything else

is the mic mono or stereo? if it is mono it should be real easy by just splicing one of the wires and putting on a push button.

or you could buy the $60 mic in the mp3car store with cancellation built in

You don't need another sound card to do this. How are you amplifying your speakers?

I will try fading the volume to the back to see if that helps.

Regarding my microphone, i think its mono, its just the garmin external microphone which is 2.5mm connector and i used a stereo adapter to make it 3.5mm to fit into my computer mic port.

I have heard a few comments on the andrea microphone, but wasn't sure if it was worth it. I guess it has echo and noise cancellation thorugh a usb adapter, but will bluetooth be able to detect a usb mic?

I am amplifying my speakers thorugh a 4 channel amp.

Ok, so i faded my front speakers so i would only get audio for back speakers when i'm in a bt call. Helped a little bit, but not much. I need to turn down the volume too much in order for the echo to go away. No good.

i may try to put a switch on my mic, but don't want to ruin it. The only reason why i haven't bought the andrea mic from mp3car is the size, its kinda big and i have heard mix reviews and the mic i have now is small mounts great and works, except for the echo issue.

Now, if i was going to put a switch on my mic, which is the garmin bluetooth external microphone, its actually made for an external mic for the garmin gps units, is there a specific wire i need to connect to the switch? Not sure how many wires would be in the mic.

If anyone has anyother suggestions dont be shy..

If your going to go the switch route and don't want to mess up your Garmin mic, get either a 2.5 or 3.5 mm extension and make your splice in on that. As far as which wire, there's only 2, and if you're mic is mono it will only need one of them. The easiest way is to just cut one wire at a time and test the mic after the cut. If you cut the first one, test if the mic still works. If it does, it's the wrong one (doesn't matter, you won't need that one - may wan't to tape it up though to keep from touching anything). Then use a momentary SPNO (Single Pole Normally Open) switch on that wire.

I already did the switch tonight and turned out fine. There were only 2 wires, but i connected them both as i didn't know it would only use one since i think its mono.

I will try this for a bit, just need to mount it somewhere and see how long i can take using the switch.

I have heard really good things about the 60$ andrea mic, so might end up picking that up..

can't you just turn the mic volume down a tad(i had echo problems and did that and it solved it for me!)

i then reloacted my mic to the top of my driver's pillar so its as close to me as possible
