Question Looking for best USB sound w/ line in and SPDIF out

The onboard audio of my m/b can't send line in to spdif out so my radio does not work and can't use line in plugins.

Now I'm looking for a really good (high end) "XP-Hibernation-safe" USB sound card w/ 1- line in and 1- optical (or coax TTL-level) digital out.
Any ideas?

That could work, but how is the S/Q of the digital out on this one?

Quantitative SQ is excellent according to this:

http://www.learjeff.net/RMAA/results.html

There is a ton of info about the Transit on this board... you may want to check up on the hiber-ability of the device.

Spent a bit of time looking at this myself. What about this one?

Not much dearer than the Transit and is USB 2.0 not USB 1.1

http://www.emu.com/products/product....&product=15186

You got to read the specs carefully, but there are left and right inputs via 1/4" jacks.

Does not seem to do optical but I don't need that.

This are the most usb audio control used in carpc but are expensive

http://www.terratec.net/en/products/..._USB_2084.html

or

http://www.gigasonic.com/motu,USB_Au...terfaces.shtml

They are used to make all controll like internal routing, delay, elettronics crossover, with a Console program or others vsthost....

Thanx for all the tips.
I don't need DSP/x-over functions (have external DPS for that w/ coax and optical in).
I need good quality digital out and line in that can be routed to digital out.
The DMX 6Fire USB look great, I can use the XLR w/ 48v phantom to my RTA microphone and skip the behringer mixer board that I normally use for RTA.
How about the TerraTec Aureon 5.1 USB MK II? All I need really but kind of sheep.

I beleive those specs are for worst case, IE if you use all of those inputs/outputs. The atom should run it just fine.

Keep in mind that some of these require a seperate power supply and some are USB bus powered.

Youre dealing with digital to digital on reputable audio companies, the SQ should be perfect.

I went from a PCI X-Fi ExtremeMusic (SPDIF) to onboard Realtek ALC662 (SPDIF) and the SQ is far worse, my only PCI slot is now occupied by a GFX so can't use PCI for sound
So I don't think SQ on SPDIF is same for all vendors. I would prefer bit perfect SPDIF but not sure if that is achievable on all vendors cards.

External power can be a problem in a car but its doable.

This are the best that you would be able to find I think because these are designed for high end audio http://www.cryo-parts.com/pclink.html and http://www.empiricalaudio.com/produc...ramp-converter Hear is a review of them but the review is for the older model of the off ramp. Personally I would try the pop pulse 1st.

Thanx, looking good. But I just bought the M-Audio Transit. Great soundcard but I don't get it to hibernate, working on it.

Please post an update if you do get it to hibernate.

Just curious. How come you can't use the line-in plugin?

Regarding Line in plug-in:
My onboard soundcard (Realtek) hangs when I use the line in plug-in, regardless of driver version

Regarding Hibernation:
I can get it to hibernate using the old drivers on the CD (*.0055v2), increase the latency to high and setting a 5 sec delay before resume in RR. Using the new drivers from M-audio the system hangs on hibernation and on start XP says that there is not enough resources for the soundcard on the USB bus

I have just made a coaxial digital out on the Transit and it works great, love the dynamics of the card using digital streaming.
