Don't bother with that system, you will be quite disappointed. It's comparable to buying a skateboard instead of a car for a 3,000 mile road trip. While some people might like the idea of a 3,000 mile road trip on a skateboard, they'd grow up before they made it 20 miles and buy some real audio equipment.

You need a channel per speaker, that includes the sub. You can run a single 5 channel amp or a 4 channel amp with a mono amp for the sub. Ok, get ready for some umbrella statements... (Disclaimer: not always true)

Single amp solutions (5 channel):
*Easier to install
*Space efficient
*Cost effective
*Limited availability and selection
*Normally a lower ceiling for power output

Multi amp solutions (4ch + mono):
*Flexible upgrades
*More selection
*Normally a larger footprint
*Higher ceiling for power output

Different 5 channel amps have different uses for their 5th channel as well. Some are designed for a center channel speaker (ie Alpine MRA-F350) while other are designed for a sub (ie Apine PDX-5). This is determined by their power output on the 5th channel.

Keep in mind!! Many will tell you that you need huge subs with gobs of power and this is simply untrue. In reality, many setups over 500w and a single nice 10"/12" sub are there for showoff (this assumes you are using decent to nice equipment and not kingwood ).

And read read read!

Haha, 2kw into 6x9s... I didn't even catch that.

Ok, now keep in mind, I'm just some stranger on the internet making recomendations... so do your research before buying. Here are some decent 5 channel amps that wont break the bank.

1) $199 Hifonics ZXi 8010 http://www.woofersetc.com/p7494/ZXi-...-Amplifier.htm

2) $289 Soundstream RUB5.800 http://www.woofersetc.com/p7764/RUB5...-Amplifier.htm

3) $349 Eclipse XA5000 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...se+XA5000.html

4) $419 Alpine PDX-5 http://www.woofersetc.com/p6395/PDX5...ifier-PDX5.htm

I should mention that the power output on these 5 channel amps (~300w RMS) is not targeted towards driving a large array of subs or developing huge ground shaking bass BUT you will never find yourself without enough bass if that makes sense. Listen to some systems to get an idea of what you want in output. If sound quantity is what you are into (and thats cool too ) look at a two amp solution with a more powerful mono.

Edit: I forgot you are in "Austrazilia", might be a little more difficult to procure what I listed. You do get good prices on Morel speakers though. Lucky.

Thanks for the info is there any threads that teach about car sound systems from scratch like what is a RMS or bridging

for example what does this mean lol

Power:
Channel 1 + 2 + 3 + 4:
70 Watts x 4 @ 4 Ohm
85 Watts x 2 @ 2 Ohm
Subwoofer Channel:
210 Watts x 1 @ 4 Ohm
420 Watts x 1 @ 2 Ohm
Max power output: 700 watts
MOSFET power supply

That list of specifications outlines the power that the amp can output on each channel. Speakers have a large coil of wire which is going to have its own resistance. The @2ohms or @4ohms refers to the impedance (resistance) of the speaker that is going to be connected to it. The lower the impedance the more power (look at the ohms law section of your new bookmark), but keep in mind that doubling the power does NOT double the output of the speaker. Lost yet? Cool.

That site... well it's priceless if you are just starting out. Just use the right column to navigate topics. It should be your go-to for just about any concept of car audio. The information there is rock solid.

RMS: Basically means the voltage (amount of power) an amplifier can output and maintain continuously without clipping (distorting). You will see max power as well, this is not a good judge of the amps performance. Max power refers to a burst of power the amp can deliver for a split second.
Bridging: The act of physically wiring two channels on an amp to act as one, effectively combining their power.

Lots of good reading material here as well:

If you're not limited to a budget then I recommend the following:

JL Audio Amps:

300/4v2 Class A/B Four-Channel Full-Range Amplifier for mids and highs

500/1v2 Class D Monoblock Subwoofer Amplifier or
1000/1v2 Class D Monoblock Subwoofer Amplifier if you need the extra power

Sub Speaker or Speakers:

JL Audio W7 Subwoofer Drivers (they range from 8'' to 13")

Any speaker over 13" for a sub is a waste, JL Audio is the undisputed champion on Audio sound and they won't make a speaker over 13" because of distortion.

I have 2 JL Audio W6 10" Subs in my Durango and it sounds absolutely amazing, just like being in a Club. Very clean and tight bass even at high levels.

Mid and High Speakers:

Focal (any of their series) but the Utopia Series are the best but very expensive. Their sound is unbelievable, if your an audiophile you will really
appreciate these.

Now keep in mind this equipment is not cheap. Hence like I said if your not a budget. I always go first class when it comes to sound even if it does cost more or a hell of a lot more, lol.

Oh BTW, check your local Craigslist, I've been seeing people hurting for money selling their JL Audio gear at really cheap prices.
