Only hard part about components is the installation. Thats why most people use velcro etc to test the tweets in different locations.
I wouldn't worry about time alignment. You can skip the need for T/A by mounting the tweeters in the correct locations.
If you really want coaxial for your center channel, some component sets come with mounting kits which lets you mount the tweeter on top of the midbass which is pretty much the same thing as a coaxial.
I guess the time alignment is my only worry. Does the tweeter have to be at ear level? What if it is lower, but facing the passenges? Here are pix of my door. Which area would be good for tweeter location?
Front
Rear

If you put a coax and a component mid-bass driver both from the same manufacturer on the table side by side, the build quality difference between the two will be obvious for even a newby. Go to any of the car audio sites and ask this same question there, and I am certain that you come back with a different opinion.
LOL, everyone know that I am either over thinking all the time, or just plain angry. Its a characteristal flaw.
I think I am set now then. All the doors and third row will be component. Then the center and phone will be coaxial. They are all the same brand (Alpine) and all the same series (Type-R) Only difference is that the components are 110 RMS, and the coaxials are 100 RMS. This shouldn't matter if the AMPS only put out 100 RMS, correct?

You need to experiment with tweeter placement.
In a car interior, there's so many reflections, it's hard to say which location will sound the best. Majority of the time, it's the A-frame panel, or where the triangle for side mirror is, or in the corner near the windshield, or in the kickpanel (you see?) Experiment with placement, as well as axis alignment (tweeters facing each other or your ears). You'll have fun. Just get some good reference music, especially one that has vocals, since vocals are on the crossover frequency in 2 way systems.

its been said already, but i wanted to say it again, there are a few coaxial speakers that include external crossovers, but not many. the primary reason for why components are better is because they have a external crossover that allows for better crossover components.
I didn't see it mentioned, so just keep in mind that you can create your own mount to hold a component tweeter in front of the woofer. this would give you the advantage of the component sound, but in the space of a coaxial--and gives you a chance to get really creative with fiberglass/metal/plexiglass-- which can look just as good or better as multiple speaker installs
you will really need to play with the most optimum tweeter location yourself. just remember, a eyecatching show truck probably will have a different tweeter location(that is more visually appealing--usually in the door) than a sound quality oriented installation (based entirely on what sounds best--usually on the dash).
I just wanted to add one more thing-- don't let the time delay be what holds you up on the install. while it has its place, it is not absolutely critical that once you install everything that you set up the time delay. being that you will be using a computer, it will be even easier to drop in a time delay later if you decide you even need it-- but you will need to install everything first to determine that...

I am just done with moding. All the projects are just pilling up and I really want to avoid it. I don't know if this has been done, but the Coaxial speaker is a Alpine speaker, is it possible to remove the capacitor or what ever it uses to pull vocals into the tweeter, and add a full crossover to that? If yes then the speaker would be on par with the components. I just do not want to do anything, or should I say anymore to my dash. I want a simple coaxial, but if I can mod it like mentioned above, that will be great!

I know how you feel here-- you should have seen my basement while i was just assembling my computer-- war zones have been cleaner...and i was only in the center console and middle of my dash, so i don't even think i can imagine what your work area looks like right now...

Yea, everything is out of my car.... all the panels take over my garage and in the room my stupid head liner takes up alot, not to mention alot of tools. I cant keep them in my garage because my parents just throw $h!+ in there and dont care that they hit my stuff. If they break something, its so expensive to replace. I wanted to order a lower dash piece from Dodge and they quoted me $300.00 because my interior is a special edition or something. I havent seen another Durango with my style. So I said f%^k that, I'll keep it all in my room.

i like your long posts, lol. I learn new things. Ive decided to go with all components in the doors, I may have to put coaxials in the 3rd row because the component woofer is too deep and may not fit. When I buy the door speakers, i'll try them in the back, if they fit then i'll get components, if not coaxials will go there. The third row doesnt matter to much because its rarely used.
