Hacking iPod Cable???

Anyone know anything of this? I know when I connect an iPod up to my computer, it shows up as a hard drive. Just like a Pen Drive, and my 32gb HTC Touch Pro. I have an iPod cable for my Pioneer Stereo, is there any way to hack this into a straight up USB Cable? So I can plug in a Pen Drive or my phone to it, and my stereo can read the MP3/WMA files on its hard drive and use them? Its one of the pioneer stereo's that can control the iPod...

If your stereo can control the iPod, then I highly doubt you can hack the cable to work with any other storage.
Since the control cable is sending commands and the like that are over and above simply reading data from the storage device, there's more going on there.

Merkin - I'm reasonably certain you misread the intent of 97GST.

I took it as he wants to use the ipod cable from a headunit as a cable to connect it to his carpc? So it can be read like a flash drive?

I got the exact opposite. To me: His head unit can hook up to an Ipod via an ipod cable and he wants to be able to hook up a pen drive to it instead.

i also understood it this way too.

pioneer makes a usb interface cable for ip-bus compatible head units:

you will need to verify weather your model will work though.

I found this a few days later. Thanks. Yes I was asking if I could hack the iPod Cable the came with my head unit, to have a USB Plug on it so I can plug a Pen Drive into it, or my HTC Touch that everytime I connect it to a USB Source, it asks if I want to sync or have it act like a USB Storage Device, that way I can control my music through the stereo and not have to touch the phone.

Thanks!
