A lot of the mics I've looked at so far are directional which means the passengers voice won't get picked up!

This is a problem for me as a lot of the time myself and my passenger are involved in conference calls, so a directional mic simply won't work! (unless I can use two mics on each pillar?)

Any ideas what a good USB mic is for good pickup of sound but also low noise pickup?

Could you not use two microphones, one for driver and one for passenger? This would ultimately have better quality sound, also.

Thats my question really, but my issue would be getting audio from both sources seen as a single audio input?

Just splice the two mics together so that they use one input. I would also put a switch on the passenger mic so that you can turn it off when you don't have a passenger.

You mean the mic itself is terminated with a usb? What are you using now that is usb? Is the mic part of the usb device, or are there analog wires that extend from the mic to the usb device? If the analog wires are extened just splice into that. I would buy a second one of the one you already have just so they match. Then just wire them to keep the same impedance and that should work.

So did nobody think of using stereo mics? Left and right pickups or in this case Driver and Passenger.... If USB make sure you have stereo in - split that into 2 different directional mics. If using MOB mic-in then get a 2-Mono to stereo y connector then place the 2 mono mics where best suited.

Bob in the left ear Mike in the right ear - a Phone is MONO sound so there would be a combine stereo to mono automatically done...
