Hi, I searched and found few threads but incomplete answering the same question. I want to be able connect my amp/speakers (Factory Bose) to my carpu soundcard with no headunit. The reason for that is because I upgraded to a 7" double-din which I took the factory HU to fit the screen. I might in the future get a alpine or pioneer HU. But now I want to used the amp without a headunit.

I found this item. Anyone think it works like how I want it to?

First you have to know if your factory amps take line signal or speaker-level signal. If they work with speaker-level signal you will need to send an amplified signal as it came out of the original HU.

In that case I'd suggest the Xtronic USB Amp.

Hello,

From my experience most amplifiers will work fine when connected to the the "line out" on your sound card. You will need a 3.5mm phono to RCA adapter or sometimes known as a mini "Y" adapter. Hope this helps!

this will work fine for aftermarket amps, but factory amps are all over the board-- even in the same model car... if your amp is looking for speaker level inputs, this will not work, but if it has line level inputs, this will work...

if it is a factory GM bose, it will most likely take line level. if its Japanese bose, it will most likely take speaker level.

But how would I connect the factory speakers+amp to the soundcard? I can do it with the headunit but I have no headunit.

you need to tell us what signal level the bose amp is expecting-- we gave you the options-- if it takes line level, you only need to connect the pc directly to the amp, but if the bose amp needs speaker level, you will need to install a second amp to boost the signal to the bose amp. or you can remove the bose amp, and install a aftermarket amp.

I guess I am going to install an aftermarket amp that has rca input. So I guess I simply just plugged it into the amp rca from soundcard?
