ok, I purchased a regular relay with a timer on it. I was wondering would this scenario be possible. What I want to do is turn on/off amp turn/pwr wire with the remote wire using a relay. If I do this will the relay allow "constant" power so that my amp/speaker get power as long as my car is turned-on or is a single switch like on/off momentarily?

wow, I got mixed up in that wording.. lol, lets try this a different way.. tell me what you want to do and what you bought
what I triied understanding..this is what I understood, you want your amp to have constant power when car is running..so with a relay, you want to acheive this, but this can't be right because amps recieve power constantly without a relay.. as they use a remote wire..I gotta be missing something

Connect the amp turn on and remote switch to a relay. So car on amp on, car off amp off.

no need for relay brother, car amps work like this.. connect the power to battery connect negative to chassis of car (trunk or under seat) wherever you plan on installing it. Just make sure ground is shortest length possible.. the remote wire simply connects to your aftermarket stereo's blue/white wire also known as power antenna or remote.. then it will turn on/off with car ignition! If you have a PC installed like most on these fforums without a regular stereo's simply connect the amp's remote wire to the ignition wire. Im guessing this is the first time installing a amp? Use the proper guage wires depending on the wattage! This is EXTRMELY IMPORTANT

thanks, your method work also but not what I wanted. I figured it out I am using the ACC wire instead of radio turn from the stock headunit. So if ar is on the amp is on, car off amp off. But I am also wiring a switch in between to turn off the sound when not needed.

yup simple single pole single throw switch on remote wire would do that trick I 'm wondering though why use ACC wire if you forget to turn off it will stay on while car is off? which would become annoying I'd assume. why bnot radio turn on then use switch?

The acc wire is the switched turn on lead from the factory harness. The acc wire only turns on when the key is turned to "acc" or "run". Once they key is removed, the acc wire turns off.

To turn the amp of when you don't want it on, just wire the switch to the acc and amp turn on line- so the switch must be on for the amp to turn on.
