it really depends on the amp and the car. you might be better off trying to find a forum dedicated to your car, and finding out from them. most factory amps will barely power the factory equipment, and changing the sub, if it has a factory sub, will result in even less performance because the new sub will usually need more wattage.
as this is a car pc website, i feel i must say, if you are familiar with electronics, ditch the whole crummy factory setup, add a car pc, a couple aftermarket amps, and some decent speakers....
