Talking Acura TL 2004 LCD

Ok.. I just got this badboy

Of course mine is the Dark Grey (anthracyte metal)
Here is what my interior looks like... Anyone have any ideas how to remove the useless HVAC display and perhaps move it somewhere else, and put a REAL TOUCHSCREEN VGA display there??? I am planning on buying the Xenarc. The space there would even fit a 8 inch LCD without a problem. But I don't trust the quality of the 8" lillis to do that just yet...

I will probably be buying the service manual to learn how to remove all that plastic and learn the wiring diagram before I attempt this. Also, it seems like I am dealing with 2 char LCDs here.
Well, just wanted to throw the idea out there for any 2004 TL owners in this forum =) Let's put our brains together and figure this out! make those Navi owner jealous and regret their $2000+ investment

You might want to check out AcuraMDX.org. I think the MDX has a similar LCD screen (for HVAC and trip computer) and a some peple there tackled the problem of relocating it.

Do these TLs still have the transmission problem (that honda/acura are refusing to admit to), or was that only on the prior shaped cars?

getting ready to buy 04 MT TL so I've been researching the whole carputer idea for this car. I want to get the non-navi TL and put a 7" or 8" touchscreen in place of the stock screen. I don't want to relocate the stock screen, I want to replace it.

How could I get this system info (AC and stereo) to display on my aftermarket touchscreen? see pic from TLer

I wouldn't be opposed to having a switch that would let me change inputs (one input would be the stock system and the other would be my carputer)

Go Terps! I graduated in '02. Live by nyc now.

Great interior, check honda-acura.net also, there may be someone whose installed a screen there. You should come to sept5th meet.
