Smile USB FM Trasmitter...what do you think?

Anyone try this USB FM Transmitter? Looks perfect for a car PC, no cables needed, usb powered I think (awful description.)

quite confused by this statement.

are fm transmitters bad? Im thinking this could improve car-to-car communication

fm transmitters are subject to any fm interference between the transmitter (the usb unit) and the receiver (the radio) they are also limited by how much power they can output (both by FCC and by the unit itself) much worse than a direct connection by fm modulator to the headunit.

fm modulators are supposed to plug into the antenna port of the headunit providing a direct wired link. alhtough i've seen products marketed as wireless fm modulators. those are just fm transmitters

wait wait, are we talking about sending the sound from the computer to the headunit, or sending the sound from the computer, to other people's headunits? if its the latter, then it would be quite hard to lay a cable to the other guys car no?

well usually ppl send it to their own HU's but if your goal is to broadcast to other cars, then even that transmitter would be bad cause range is probably about 10-20ft. that means basically like 2 other cars can hear you.

Thumbs up But it's USB! :)

Cars around me are welcome to listen to my music

It seems neat that is USB so you don't need to use a battery or another AC adapter.

i have a different type of usb fm TRANSMITTER! and the quality is a bit naff it hmmms it buzz's and it really picky about having other usb devices pluged into other ports its creates a lot of noise and isnt that good on range say 10 foot or so, but i have no aux sockets on my headunit so hey it works for me for now!
