I'll be purchasing a Griffin Powermate in the next few days to control my volume, among other things.

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card. Front L/R + Rear L/R into 50x4(RMS) channel amp.
The amp powers 2 sets of Kenwood Excelon components (6.5" woofer, 1" tweeter) in the front and a set of MB Quartz Discus components in the rear.
I plan to add an additional amp with sub for one of the remaining two channels on the card.
I controll the volume with the touch screen.

My primary control/display is a matrix orbital mx2 lcd
http://www.matrixorbital.com/pages/p...p?CatID=5&mx=2
Im working on a custom set up with a GLK12232-25-SM that I hope to have working soon. I also have a lilliput, but dont use it as much for control because i have not had the time to find software that works with the software that i use for the lcd

Griffin powermate for volume, click to mute, long click for next click and turn for previous, as well as touchscreen, its much easier to use a tactile device while driving than look and aim a finger at a touchscreen

I plan to do mine with a regular log taper stereo trim pot from radio shack as a volume knob, in between the line out of the sound card and the input of the amps. however, now that i've seen the powermate, i might have to reconsider.

Griffin Powermate and Eq
I use a Griffin Powermate, IR Remote, touchscreen via software and I also use a Clarion Eq to control volume. Personally I wouldn't do without a hardware mechanism to control volume. The EQ also lets me control F/R fader, sub freq, sub volume, low/mid/high frequency gain etc.
See sig for pics..

Not finished yet, but as I found this thread: http://www.ramseyelectronics.com/cgi...tion&key=FM25B I will be using my steering wheel controls to do volume up/down and next/prev (and maybe some double-click and hold-down tricks to have more functionality).
I'm also planning on using a powermate or something else to have a nice round classic volume button, next to the screen.

Windows. But when I've got my xbox hooked up I used a RCA level knob. You can get them anywhere locally.
