audio / video interference

I have a pc related sound problem i just got the DC-DC converter off of ebay ($25) and when i power the laptop from it the lcd gets some interference and the audio has a lot if i run the laptop of its internal bat or AC its gone.

Think i can filter the power before the DC-DC or what should i do. i saw a DC-DC at radio shack for $120 maybe you get cleaner power that wont casue that?

can i ground the audio / video cables any way?

Thanks

hmm, maybe try a cap in parallel with your laptop input. That solved my humming problems for my amp.

If the power isn't clean, it's going to bring a lot of noise into the laptop, and that one isn't allways able to filter it out.

The audio / video cables should have shielding, which is the ground of those signals. Just attach the shielding to the ground some way (open up the connectors and solder an extra wire to the ground pins/pad or chip some isolation off your cable and use some clamp). A pic of your cables would help.

This is what im gona do.
im gona sell my HU that dont have any aux in and get a nice sony that has a xm controller and aux in im gona get rid of my fm modulators and do the system the right way.

i also bught a laptop power from radio shack $120 and it has a lot less fuzz i can live with the amount i hear now and once i dont have a fm mod it willl be even better.

i think a proper HU will make my system a lot better. cause roght now its a lil thrown together...

has any one ordered anything from cardomain.com shop? was it good service?

Becareful In audio, the shields are generally only grounded at one end. Otherwise you create a ground loop (bad thing)
