sub woofers/car audio in a convertable

ok, i got my bmw mini convertable now, and i have some infinity components to go in the front (although i might stick em in the back, and go for higher powerd front speakers...
this is my question, how do subwoofers perform in softtops? i am planning to get 2x audiobahb 12" dual coil subs, ported enclosure, run em on an amp at 2/mabe 1ohm...

but how will it sound in a convertable?

thanks,

tom.

You're going to need more power to be able to hear them well at cruising speeds with the top down then in a hardtop.

with the top up you will be fine, but with the top down you get no reflection and your spl goes to crap. And imho audiobaun speakers are way overrated. they work, but very overrated, especially their amps.

another option that you might want to look at... there's varying opinions on this) supplement your subs in the back w/ some Bass Shakers mounted under the seat

I own a BMW convertible and the sub that I put in my car is a ported enclosure with a single 10" JL audio powered by a 120w (sub channel) 5 channel eclipse amp. It rocks with the top up or down. I was told that if you don't port your sub you won't hear it well when the top is down.

you need to have a custom box built that ports the sound into the vehicle

By overrating, they usually exaggerate/lie about the specs on the equipment
