But seriously, are you sure it is a modulator or is it a transmitter? Have you checked all of the obligatory things like replacing the cable, sound settings on PC, etc?

Wink

I bought this FM transmitter and have it hooked up to a 12 volt supply from the molex connector. It works great. No noise, no static, crisp and clear. Also wireless... and only $35.00
ebay link

I have tried the USB line-X and got a lot of line noise as well as static. Plus only 6 channel selections, no good hear. I have also tried an inline modulator, very bad choice. Lots of line noise, alternatore noise and poor sound quality. Ditch the modulator and get a transmitter like the one above, it works great.

That is the same one I was using, pretty funny actually I battled with the sound issues for about 1 year, then I gave up and tried something different and low and behold it works.

You'll probably regret that. I used one at first, and it sounded great for about a month, then turned to crap. Most others on this forum who have used them expressed the same sentiment. I now use an audiovox modulator, and it's been sounding great for a year. Just be sure to ground everything PROPERLY. for what I mean on that.

I just digging thru my factory HU yesterday and found a way in integrate "Aux input" that I think can sound much better than any "adapter" except the true aux input adapter. That is to tap into the Analogue audio signal from the CD part to amplifier. I will post the complete procedure when I get home.

Ok here is what I did on a GM/AC/Delco made Radio on my Toyota Matrix (this radio is similar to most radio on GM cars/trucks)
- Trace the audio signal from the CD player to the amplifier board by using head phone. Cut the plug to expose bare wire or solder/tape 2 piece of wire (GROUND and LEFT or RIGHT) to the plug and use it to probe around.

I found 2 signal wire on a 6 pins connector (Black pin 1 is LEFT and white pin 3 is RIGHt pin 2 is GROUND).

I cut that 2 audio wires pin 1 and 3.

Solder a DPDT relay

The result is a mini stereo jack for aux in and a wire dangling out side to enable and disable aux input (driven the relay)

There is NO noise or engine whine when I use a discman to feed the audio. No computer setup in the Matrix yet so I don't know if there will be noise with the PC.
