5 channel Amp suggestions

I am installing a carputer in my 2000 Land Rover Disco II with Lilliput in dash. I will be going without the HU.

Factory speakers have 4mids and 4 highs and must have some type of crossover at speakers because at HU there are only 4 speaker pairs. I would
also like to add a single 12" sub in the back area.

Im not looking for a huge system but something rather plentiful and I would much rather install just a five channel amp and then do the sub when I have time later. I will also most likely end up upgrading factory speakers in the near future anyway so I not even worried about smoking them

I was looking at the

Hifonics Zeus ZX8000 5 Channel
or
MTX Thunder 895 5 Channel 890 Watts

Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for me.

Thanks Alot,

Biglips

I hear great things about he zues series, I now tend to stay away from mtx since my old 5ch 405 mtx took a dump on me 3 times, good thing for warranty. Now i rum only memphis amps, and i just love them. THe big memphis belle will push out 1400 watts, true wattage, not hyped watts. The smaller baby belle is about half that.

Do you mean you have two pairs of component speakers, one up front and one in the rear quarters? If so, forget about the rears, get a decent four-channel amp, run the fronts of two channels and bridge the other two for the sub

Yup I' have 'baby belle' its a great amp, although its pretty big, i kinda wish i coulda gotten a shorter/smaller 5ch amp. I'm not going crazy so its power is fine for me.

But if you need more oomph go for the big boy "Memphs Belle" as otehrs said pushes out quite a nice step up in power. and they are nice looking amps w/ a great name behind them.. their ratings are usually spot on or sometimes under-rated (or so i've read about some of their amps pushing more then rated rms)

Process for picking a amp have been more difficult than I had thought.

I am now contemplating a 4 channel amp due to size issue. I would like
to locate amp under passenger seat and that limits size to about 10 x 12.

Later, I figure that I could add a sub amp under the drivers seat. I am currently considering a Rockford Fosgate 551X for about $258.00 online.

I also like the JL Audio amps 300/4 but its a little too big and price is nearly $100 bucks more online.

I will research other recommendations from this post. Thanks alot!!

if space is a concern and you have the $, you might want to go with that 4 ch amp idea but add an Infinity BassLink and just put that under your seat or trunk or wherever. The amp / speaker / radiator are all in one enclosure...

the memphis baby belle is pretty small i believe, low profile, i know the big belle is huge, but it still fits in my spare tire well.

I have one of this in my car hooked up to my Alpine HU, works and sounds great! This Kicker IX405D (Class D) and has remote sub control. It has been superceded by the newer KX series so maybe you will take a look at the newer Kicker 5ch? Forget about this if you want to enter bass competition, but it should work for any carpc setup with 4.1 setup (RCAs, not digital)

Highly recommended!

Blaupunk makes nice amps the PA2150 and theres another one thats a 4 channel PA4150? but they are great amps and real small.. w/ high rms output. the 2150 is a 2x150wrms amp like 8in square so i've heard.. check those out..only place you can find them now i think is ebay though
