350 at 1 or 4 ohms would be good for general listening, but if you want a good kicking then go for anything up to 650 - it'll make the JL sing. Just be careful with the gains - don't send the amp into clipping

Personally I'd go for a DLS A6. 500w rms @ 4 ohm, beautiful looking, and Class A/B to boot I have two myself, wouldn't change em for the world

Sorry to hear that. I have 4 of these in three cars and zero problems. The power of the Alpine must have been too much for those crap MTX woofers and the coils were bottoming out.

Not at all, the made in China Alpine actually fried. The MTXs are still operational along with the Crossfire in my friend's car (I sold to him)
