Hacking the display of the cd player

I have the sound from my carputer through the aux of my Panasonic cd player. Does anyone know how I can make the lcd from the cd player to display "carputer" instead of "aux"?

Thanks

Just name your carputer "aux"

Seriously, it is doable but not easy, the built in controller sends the "aux" sequence to the LCD, you will need to build external controller that interfaces to the LCD and overrides the built in one, way too much work.

Unless your panasonic hu has a specific option to rename the aux input to something else, then no, there is no easy way.

You think if I take it to my local Panasonic service they could hook me up? I mean, this has nothing to do with my warranty. They'd only have to work on my front panel or the entire unit, 'cause my unit is hooked up there almost never to be removed again.

I doubt they'd be able to do it, much less easily, much less be willing to do it...

It isnt just an easy thing... the chip in the hu that controls the display send aux to it... it is unlikely that this chip is modifiable... so your basically SOL i think...

You could always pull the chip that would have that information (I dont know how you would do that) pull the data onto your computer (I dont know how you would do that) and then proceed to hex edit it. Which is about the only step I have any idea how to complete. Wouldnt it just be easier to ditch the HU and get an amp?

I just bought this unit a month ago. I paid over 400E for it. I want to keep it, and to display "carputer".

Print out a page that says "carputer" and glue it ontop... done.
