Vauxhall Wiring loom and Lost Presets

I have a Sony CDX 4000r in my Vauxhall Corsa and everytime I switch off the ignition I lose all my radio presets, clock resets etc. I have been told that this is a problem caused by the way vauxhall wire power to the ISO socket and that it is possible to work around.

Does anyone know about this problem and could you advise me if you do, its driving me nuts at the minute!

TIA
Keegan

How is it wired? There are two power wires to your HU. One provides constant power to the HU so you don't lose your settings, and the other one is the main power.

I've had the same problems. You have to switch red and yellow cable if i'm correct. (backup power and memory-power).

(I have a Opel (european brand name of Vauxhall) Astra myself, but its internally almost equal to a Corsa)

You mean the radio lost it's memory during power off?

If so, that's because all Opel/Vauxhall have this SUPERWIRED issue of ignition/perm live being switched.

Right now, probably the radio has perm live on both connectors. If you restore it the way it was before, and switch the red wire with the black wire, it should work perfectly.

On the radio wires should be like this: red - ingnition and yellow - perm live.

Cheers, I'll look into it. At the minute I am using a halfords iso adapter thing which is easy enough to rewire.

Thanks for your help

A quick update, I have now got my head unit wired in properly.

A little snag to start with, I wired the illimination wire into the ignition and the radio wouldn't work unless my lights were turned on!

Cheers again

Thats a new one Look at it this way, it's better to make a mistake, figure out what you've done and work out how to fix it then it is just to bodge it up and it works off blind luck

Or thats what I think when it doesn't go quite right
