stereo to rca converter, no loss in sound quality?

i noticed that everyone here recommended audigy 2 sound cards and such, and these are stereo plugs if i'm not mistaken. right now i use a creative sound blaster digital music sound card (external usb), and it has gold-plated rca inputs (for the playstation2) and outputs (to the amps)... i was wondering if using stereo to rca converters would be ok, because i can't find any rca sound card with 24-bit decoding and i need 24-bit decoding since i'm competing in sq events (iasca)....

so you guys really think it's ok to use an audigy, even though it's not rca?

and maybe you guys can help me find a 24-bit sound card with rca's, that'd be the best way..

or maybe a good quality stereo to rca plug? any recommendations?

thanks.

there is the PCMCIA card like I am using - it's 24b bit. There are a few other SB cards if I remember right as well. Might also want to check out the M-audio cards...they do 24 bit as well if I'm not mistaken.....

There's no quality loss with adapter cables. You're converting the mechanical connection, not the audio contents.

lgbr has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Been using those radio shack adapters for a while, i love em. I have 5 or 6 of them laying around (not counting the ones I have in use). It is a mechanical connection, as stated above. I've wired some up with some duct tape and wire.

There's actually a small quality loss every time you make a connection, but it's quite negligible unless you have a lot of connections or your signal is weak (eg wireless lan).

If you're competing in SQ maybe you should look at one of these:
http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/...lia/index.html
http://www.highstreet.net.au/store/866.htm (same product)

It looks bloody good Only a little more than an Audigy 2 ZS here, and it has better realistic performance (compare dynamic range results in digit life's Audigy 2 ZS article: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/...-zs/index.html)

the EMU 1212M is a much better measuring card and might be the card i will end up with in my install if i dont use an outboard processor and run digital out to it and fab digital controls so i can have full function from the screen in the dash...i won't argue SQ as that is subjective..

Edit: just saw the price of this card...its much more expensive than the 1212M as well....

The site i posted has the price in australian dollars. As a comparison the Emu 1212M here is $499.

But yeah i'll agree that Emu stuff has a nicer gui which makes doing things a lot easier than most of the other cards on the market..

going off your 120dB comment before u edited your post...the actual unbalanced DR of the 1212m = 109.4db, S/N=110.1dB : balanced DR = 115.6dB, S/N = 116.9dB

i do prices in US so forgive the misunderstanding....the 1212M is more expensive then it seems....

EDIT: the 404 is also an excellent card and measure much better than the julio...there is new firmware for it that makes it even better....cheap too relatively speaking....it's worth checking into IMO....

Do you have any links to reviews of the 404?
