Wiring up the system... got a few ?s

I'm almost done with this project... just ordered an amp and now I just need all the wiring to hook it up. Right now I'm going to run the amp and an inverter from my battery, but later replace the inverter with a DC-DC power supply. So either way, I need to run two things from my battery...

My question is, what's the best way to do this? I've been shopping around lately, and seen places like Crutchfield selling "battery terminals" which just look like covers with places to connect 2 power cables and 2 ground cables (on the respective terminals of course). Should I do something like this or just hook them directly to the battery? If I do get the terminals, what should I look for?

Thanks, and let me know if I confused you, because I sort of confused myself.

Well depending on the amperage you will need you could run a 4 or 8 gauges wire from the battery I recommend a 4 gauge then you can put a distribution block and make it to 2 8 gauge wires. One to the inverter and one to the amp just make sure to get the proper fuse 12" from the battery; I am using a 100AMP circuit breaker for my system just to make it easier on me.

Then you just ground it 12-18" from the amp/ inverter with the same gauge as you have from the distro block.

I'm confused,

I think those terminals your talking about are exactly what you would use to connect directly to the battery, how much more direct could you get?
