xm and radio tuner at the same time

I'm using the USB audigy. I have a 2 way mini splitter going to the line in. On one of the lines I have my XM PCR, on the other I have the line in from my radio tuner. The problem is that whenever I have the XM connected, the radio tuner is silent. If I unplug the XM line in or the XM usb, the tuner begins to work instantly. I check the volume controls in control panel and XM does not mute the line in, but it's acting like it does. Has anyone else experienced this?

bump. So I'm assuming I'm the only one who has attemted this since nobody has said that they have either gotten it to work or experienced this.

From the way you explained it, you are actually shorting the output of both units together in the y cable. The unit with the lower output impedance wins in that situation, and both units could (possibly) get damaged. It's like running the speaker outputs from two different amplifiers together in parallel to drive one speaker, but on a lower power scale. Running a switcher like Josh mentioned is a possible fix if you don't have an extra input. You could also wire up about a 50k ohm stereo pot and use the mic input for your extra input. Just lower the line out level till it matches correctly with the mic input level.

I thought about a switch but I really don't want to have to switch something. It's not a very seamless integration. The wierd thing is that it worked on my onboard audio, I think. I will have to double check to make sure now. So to use the mic, I need a resistor in line? How, exactly, would I wire that in?
