amp temperature
i was wondering what the average temperature was for most people on there amp is. the temperture in my car was about 70 degree Farneheit. I had my amp on for about 20 min and the the temp on the amp was 130F and the internal fan on the amp didnt turn on... i have an alpine mrv-f345. I am afraid that the fan might not be working and i just bought the amp so i can still replace it. should i been concerned?? i know that the amp will turn off automatically if the temperature gets to hot but i was just wondering before that might happen.

Unless you're having problems I wouldn't worry too much about it. How do you know what the temp was on the amp? Was it on the heatsink, or is there an internal temp meter? If it's brand new, I wouldn't be too concerned. Otherwise, try calling Alpine and ask them what the temperature tolerances are.

I would think you have a problem. I know for my amps, they have no fans or anything, just one giant heatsink, and none of them got hot even though I was giving them all I could handle (my goal was to overheat them, I failed.) But then again, each one of thsoe amps weighs 20 pounds, so like I said, huge heatsink...
170 just seems really hot for an amp, so I would contact Alpine or something. Or, just run it at high power for a long time to try to overheat it.

Depends on where the temperature sensor is. If it's on the amplifiers itself, then, yeah, it could probably easily get that high...

Does the amp have thermal protection? If it does, dont worry about it, if things get to hot to handle it will shut down.
