Bin in to Audio In
I have a Sony Xplod system that came with the truck I just bought. I want to hook up my Ipod, but it only has Bin In. Now I know audio in isn't the same as bin in, but I tried it anyways. No luck. Is there any inexpensive way to convert the audio to work with my system? I have read tutorials about if you have a drive separate from the head unit, but mine is built in.

Haha, Yeah, i've noticed it isn't the best quality. It isn't crap though like the stock one i had in my Camry. The radio will have to wait for now. Got other stuff I have to worry about for now.
And by FM Mod, you mean an FM transmitter right? I have one, but was hoping for a wired solution.

Is it now?
lol, I'm just playing with you. I'm guessing your headunit doesn't have aux in, and unless you are using amps for both your subs and door speakers, I don't see any other way than using a FM transmitter. If you go with the FM transmitter, make sure you hook it up to the battery or cig lighter because if you just you the batteries on the transmitter, you'll get shatty reception.

This is the transmitter I currently have. Runs on 3volts, so I would have to find a voltage regulator to push it down to 3volts.
Can't find it on their site, but it's model number is CDX-CA700X. Here is a pic of it. It has Xplod speakers behind the seats, and the rest of the speakers are stock. The thing is though, I have no room for a sub, unless I get like a 8/10 inch one. (i'm also looking in to do that).
Now you say they have wired FM transmitters? I didn't know they made that. Where would I get one?
EDIT: Are you talking something like this or this ?

Your head unit doesn't have aux in.
Well it seems like that transmitter has the plug for a car adapter on the bottom, but it doesn't come with the car adapter.
The one I bought is very similiar to yours, but it came with a car adapter:

I got wireless tranmiter and wire modulator and let me tell you that the wire (goes to the radio antenna) is better.
Just my .2 cents.

The first one is a better one cuz you can control when it is on/off. The 2nd one is NOT and it didn't state how it is to be switched.
Usually FM modulator will cut off the incoming signal when the unit is ON for cleaner sound and less interference.
FM Modulator => Hookup thru antenna. Other people can't (I am not sure) tune in
FM Transmitter => Just plugin. Other can tune in to what you listenning.

another thought
if the HU is changer capable than you simplly have to plug in a changer to the UIN-LINK port and the BUS audio in will be activated. but it is only an audio in when you switch to "changer". now you do see a problem here. if you switch to changer you only have ONE input. so you have to get an "a/b" switch for the audio in ports. with that you can switch between carputer and changer
i hope this helps

This suggestion works unfortunately there's a "catch". Because the uni-link will recognize the input only when the changer is playing. This means you have to have the cd changer play and then use the a/b switch to fool the HU that it is still getting audio from the changer. If the changer stops playing or moves to the next disc, the audio will also stop. But then again, if you have a changer then the ipod gets a bit redundant. The only proper way to connect an external source to a HU without aux in is via a unilink device called an XA300. (see attachment). This allows you to tap into the bus and any device is recognized as a "changer". From mode > cd1 > cd2, etc...
and yes, that is a USB bus port on the front of the xa300. It accepts sound from a pc usb port
