What about these subs?...
Hey Guys,
as I've seen and read a lot of you know your stuff about car audio, and I'm just a noob on that front, I'd like to ask a little question:
In an electronics 2nd hand store, I saw 2 subwoofers from pioneer, 15 inch and looking like the one attached but bigger and are rated 600 watts (don't know, but I think that's peak, might be RMS).
The price is 60 euro a piece (about 50 $ I think), should I buy them for that price if they are OK?
Thanks!

Pioneer subs are ok.
I had some general 350w max 10s for 4 years....
See I just got into car audio and wanted some subs, so I went and got a box for dual 10s, and then went to best buy. bought the pioneers they had 2 for 1 and got the 4 yr warranty....so with that in mind i beat the **** out of them doing all my tweeking over the next 2 cars and 4 years....blew and replaced 3 times...
IMO pioneer subs, suck. They can pound with the right wattage pushing them, but you are better off with a company that started with speakers/subs....like Rockford Fosgate, JL etc...for reliability I go with the tried and true.

I would go with a couple CerwinVega Vmax subs. Get both of them with DVC and wire them down to one ohm and hit it with a DEI 600.1. For a starter system, I'd say you'll get some decent SQL. There's a couple other options like some subs that not very many people have heard of, but I think are better than even the setup I just recommended; although, most people won't buy from a company they haven't heard of especially if you're looking into brands like pioneer.
That's a setup if you're on a budget, if you have more money to spend then I'll give some more options.

Well, in fact I'm not really looking for subs, I have a pioneer just like it, but 10" and just one.
Just saw them lying there and would like to know if it's a good deal for the price, because then I'll buy them, as I like good deals

If am not mistaken, those are the same as my brother has is his car. But I think the ones he has are 12".
I am not really an expert on this, but I guess they must be quite good. Because, before my brother bought it, the car belonged to a friend of mine and he regularly participated in SQ-contests. He scored quite good with his car.

Hmmm, if I was you I would not buy em, save the money and then get one SPL Dynamics PRO 12 or one 12" Adire Bhrama (even a second hand one if you dont mind, just make sure it aint burned...)
Pioneer makes good head units but I'm not that happy with there drivers and amps...

That sub is a free-air sub, if you don't use em that way you'll have to make a bigass enclosure for it, specially cuz it's a 15"!
On the other hand if you don't have really heavy amp(s) and you have a useable backboard, you can get some SPL for the power you put in em!
They are just 200W RMS a piece and have a sensitivity of 95dB!
Price/Quality I believe its a deal, 60/120€ is not a cost!
I personaly wouldn't do it cuz I hate free-air, even if I didn't, I don't have the space

if you get a pioneer sub get a premier one. They cost a little more but they are definitely worth. They are good cheap subs as long as you have a good box for them.

JL audio w6v2 or (about $300 more) the w7....they come in sizes 8, 10, 12 and the sickass 13.5. Fast as hell, rap, house and trance hits hard, and progressive, death metal, hardcore (double pedal action) is clean and superb. Reviews anywhere on the internet will vouch for their unparalleled sound quality. They offer an unconditional 2 year warrantee on ALL models, so long as theyre bought from an authorized dealer....they also pay shipping both ways in the event of a tragedy
Probably not the perfect answer to your question, but i'll swear by these subs...
