Hi all.

Is it possible to share the stock speaker connection between the stock HU and the amp?

I've recently installed my carputer, but radio signal is really bad, and as I live in Spain I cannot use XM radio. So I was thinking about making some Y wire to connect my HU and my amp.

I have two questions:

1.- Can I use this in only-one-of-two-is-running configuration? I can turn off the HU and then turn on the amp (via a switch) and vice versa.

2.- Could I turn on the HU and the amp simultaneosuly?


The Y wire should go from the ISO connector to the amp output and to the headunit speakers output.

Any help?

You should see if you can get your hands on a high to low level converter. This gets wired to the speaker outputs from the HU and converts the signal to low level outputs that have standard RCA jacks which can be connected to the RCA'S on the amp. You can safely Y this type of device. But it is a generally a bad idea to Y the speaker outputs from dissimilar audio devices as the ouput voltage on one may overload and damage the other.
