CD Autochanger cable/ibus

I have searched however I would like to know if anyone on the forum has tried to input sound to a stock late model BMW or Mini HU using the cd autochanger cable and ibus interface any info on whether this is possible without spending $99 on an aux input adapter as an ibus interface kit is less than half the price and I would have thought it was possible to get the ibus interface to send a cd changer present signal allowing that option to be selected on the HU.
