Hey Red,i just changed my sound card with a professional sound card as i couldn't find an alpine h700 for less than 500 euro in italy(i paid my card 350 euro) and at least i don't have to recable for just a controller, and i can use the awesome dac of the card.

The card is that :

4) Resolution : 24 Bits

I calculated with a program and and it came out that the output voltage are 1,2 v nominal(4dbu) and 10v max(22,5 dbu) so the voltage should be enought.
Have i understood well?Or will the card have pre-out always lower than a h700?

That looks nice, but I have a few questions....

for most people the problem with the Alpine unit is finding a place to put the controller, seems like this would be just as much of a problem, no?

how do you power it? through an inverter? if so that's taking one step forward and two steps back for sound quality.

the connections? I don't see anything on there that would fit in the car audio world....am I missing something?

Why i have to look for a place for this? This goes back with the amplifiers,i don't have to touch it.Its only purpose is to connect the pc with the amps.

It has a pci card that power all the rack,so one step forward and no step back
For the connection it has 8 mono 1/4'' jack for output and two balanced XLR(which i have on my butler tube amplifier) with 48v phantom power.
You can see here the outputs and the pc connection :

Tonight i'm gonna test it,i hope i can get good result.
My biggest fear is that it use much more power than the previous card, and i think my poor opus is already at the max.

Ok,here are the result.
With the XLR the output is very noisy,i think it doesn't have enough power to do the 48v phantom, and i don't have enough power even for just the usb touch screen.
Using the jack the touch screen was working fine, but the only cable i had was a very thin and poor one,and i still had a little noise,i hope it's just a cable issue.
The great thing is that now, with the gain of the amplifier at the minimum, i have almost the same power as before with the gain at the maximum. That with the tube amplifier, with the other cheap one i haven't noticed a great difference, someone know why?.
Overall the sound seem much cleaner but maybe it's just an impression,it seem now more cold and flat, without personality
I think it's time to take the car to a professional installer, the previous installer was a total incompetent.
