Hey guys. I got my carputer installed and working for the most part but I am running into a problem. The audio sounds a bit muffled or like there is way too much bass. I have a couple suspects to this but wanted to get some outside opinions before I tear apart my current setup.

I am using the AC97 card and my car has the stock amplified system that is in a Mustang GT 2001. Its the 480W amplified system(think bose.) I have found a converter or what not that allows me to encode the audio into the amplifier(since if you dont the amp plays really funky sounds)

To describe the way the audio sounds it sounds like your at a performance and then walk outside for some air and are able to hear through the wall. I should also mention that the audio can really crank up loud so I dont think its necessarily a lack of power. My best guess is that it is the stock amplifiers and that they probably need to be replaced. Any ideas?

Err do you have a bass boost button turned on on the amp, or the amp set to x over?

Check your EQ on your PC. You might have doubled the bass boost so it boosted the bass from the PC and then from the HU so it sounds like ****. Use only one EQ and you should be fine

Ive actually cut the head unit out of the loop. Just computer, straight to the stock amps. I think I will play with it for a bit and see what I can do. If it doesnt correct it I guess here comes some new speakers and an amp.

Check your cables also, there might be a distortion due to bad connectivity. Try playing music using default EQ settings and then work from there.
