I am trying to find a small 4 channel audio amp for my Car pc installation. It has to be smallish as I want to mount it to my bulkhead behind the glovebox. I guess some about the size of a 1 DIN head unit would be OK.

It doesn't have to be pretty as it will be out of sight, but all of the amps I have seen are huge showy items.

It must be possible as a headunit can come with an amp built-in, and 4 x 45W RMS would be plenty.

Any ideas would be appreciated?

take a look at this
amp

the amps in head units cannot compare .....they are usually just a small integrated ic chip mounted on a piece of aluminum. most hu also tend to misrepresent the actual power by posting the "peak power levels"
most hu"s are about 20 watts rms with very high distotion and low s/n ratio"s
