Your help needed!!!

Im computer scientist, but dont know s**t about car-audio.

So i could use your help to solve a problem.

My setup is Acer TM-C113 tablet, connected to cars headunit with FM-modulator, which takes 12V current. Everything works fine like that... but when i connect tablet to its own car loader (official acer product) i will experience huge noise on audio (its not just anoying, but its completely unbearable). could it have something to do with the fact that both (laptop and FM-modulator) are connected to same powersource??

Have u guys any suggestion what could i do... or do i just have to schedule my trips acording to laptop battery

do you experience the same noise if you are plugged into a wall jack? try it at your house, grab an extension cord and see if the problem still occurs... this will help us diagnose the problem.

Ok i tried with laptop connected to wall socket... if i understanded u right, that was what u meant... and it worked like dream (well as good as possible with FM-modulator and factory head unit and speakers), not even anoying noise.

But note though... that i used different acer loader now (one meant for indoors use) since i dont have wall-socket-2-cigarette-lighter-socket-adapter available.

But anyway that means that laptop is not inherently unusable, so problematic component is either acer-car-loader or leaking car-powersource right?

i think you're correct.... so i guess the next step is to maybe try to hook up the acer-car loader to another car. and see if it still introduces noise into your car. make sense? basically we are just using car 'b' for a power source.

Yes thats really good idea, sadly car b is 600km away right now

but ill post as soon as i have change to test it.

If it turns out that acer's car adapter is faulty component... They better pray Allah, Jehova and Budha to avoid my wrath!

I had change to do quick car b-test today with friend car and it turn out that even though there was some noise it was totally different compared to using powersource in same car. Now i think question remains that is powersource of citroen xsara somehow "dirty" or does noise come from combined effort of both FM-modulator and car loader connected to same powersource... ill be experimenting with that as soon as have second car back in yard... however now i would already be interested what are my options on either possible case, cause todays test atleast prooved that tablet can be loaded with car loader same time it plays music.

So if the problem is caused by cars powersource... is there somekind of stabilizers for that? or how could i remedy situation?

And if its caused by combined effect would similar kind of solution do? or should i load trunk with batteries and so use different circuit to load lap and if i do that would it be easy to make cars loader to load those extra batteries too? like i said, i dont know anything about car-hifi

Was car b running during the test? If not, and there was noise while using car b and not while using house current, something is almost certainly coming from the car power adapter. Of course, none of this is valid if car b was running... if it was, try without the engine running.

Actually i dont remember to be sure... but i think car b was running. However noise was small... not near or above painlevel like when i use power from car a. But ill run car b test soon again just to confirm this.

Solved problem by installing extra battery.
