AMP wont turn ON!! HEELP!

Hey all,

I have been having a problem installing an amp in my 04 G35 coupe. I cannot get the amp to turn on to save my life, the POWER LED at the top will NOT come on. Now the amp is a POS Profile California 400W amp and my HU is the stock Bose premium audio. I currently have an LOC to convert the signals to RCAs for my amp. I have triple checked my power line and I KNOW it has juice (the old tap the body and spark=power trick...). The ground is also secure, to a bare metal spot in the trunk (attached to a body panel). The remote however has been tough. The question I have is if I have a secure power/ground should my amp STILL turn on, even if the remote wire is NOT connected or not connected to the correct remote device?? OR is my problem the remote wire?? I am trying to determine if my problem is a bad ground or remote. I had always assumed that an amp should still turn on even WITHOUT a remote wire being connected.....I have been messing with the ground wire thinking even without a remote my amp should turn on. If you guys think its my remote I'll try finding a proper source for it and only troubleshooting that.

In addition what else can be used as a remote wire instead of taking a signal from behind the Bose HU harness?? Its a pain to remove all the dash panels and replace for one lousy wire...can i tap my cig. lighter?? (cig lighter only comes on when cars on....)

THANKS!!

Unless specified by the manual for the amp, you cannot assume that the amp will turn on without a remote wire hooked up. Most amps dont function without a remote wire. You should hook up the line to a switched(with key "on") and fused line. The cig lighter may be a place to do so, but i'd like to go to the remote line behind the radio with a fuse inline whenever possible, ideally with a relay because some of those lines are not equipt to handle much current. Also to avoid any amp thump/pop when turning on the amps out of sequence of the radio
