List of EQs with optical input

Many of us have optical output from our motherboard (or at least our soundcard) and would like to utilise it.

I personally have optical output on both my motherboard and my soundcard and I would like to find a stereo EQ that has optical input instead of RCA inputs.

Is there such a thing? I've done some searching but cannot find what I'm looking for. There are a good number of processor units that have optical input, but those are for 5.1 digital surround. I only want stereo sound.

I would love to use an Audiocontrol EQ, but they do not make any with optical input.

So, anyone who is aware of an EQ with optical input, list it here!

Wink In dash stereo Optical Input???

Ok I dont know about Jackboots' setup
But I guess I wanted to control my sound or at least keep my sound controlled by an indash stereo.
I see that .. that particular amp actually uses Optical inputs...
but is there an in dash stereo that already has that.
an optical input.
and maybe an optical output. (yeah I wanna be greedy.)
But yeah I can at least deal with optical input indash stereo.

do you have a TRUE optical output? as in a Tos-link optical output? or a RCA 'optical' out?

There's not many units out there that can take the digital RCA 'optical'

and yes, the Alpine kicks arse!

Yes I have a true Toslink optical output.

Dang, I wish the Alpine H700 wasn't so expensive More than that, I wish there was a simple 2-channel EQ with optical input!

so expensive for the alpine?

gotta be kidding me...

for what they are asking for the alpine unit you can't find a single other processor that will even come close to it....not even remotely...and it damn sure won't do it nearly as well either

now, if it's out of your budget, I guess I can understand that, but I wouldn't give up on it, check ebay and closeouts on the net, would be amazed at what you can find

How experienced are you with DIY electronics? What you want does exist, but only if you build it yourself. It's not too complicated. I've assembeled most of the parts for that DAC, and I'm going to give it a try, although it won't be in my car other than to see how well it works. It supports 24 bit 96kHz, but only outputs at 1.2v RMS, which is weak. What's really interesting is that you could have a S-N up to 120dB with a few changes. There's no EQ, although there are EQ projects at several sites.

I think you'd be better off, however, going with a commercial unit. But as I mentioned in the other thread, you're going to get a lot of features you don't want or need, and there are only a handful of choices under $1000. The ADD51T is still the best deal, if you can live with two band EQ "adjustment" and some crappy EQ presets. It has some other functions which are quite nice though.

Red, the Alpine unit does seem expensive when all you want from it is digital input for stereo music and an equalizer. If you were going to use more of its features, then it would indeed be a good deal compared to other products that are similar.
