USB Sound Card Option

Just wondering, to connect my computer to my amp i need a usb sound card because i am using my laptop. From what i understand all this usb sound car needs is 5.1ch so two channel for front speaker left and right, two for back left and right and one for the middle, or the sub. is this correct?

and can someone tell me if this sound card will do the job?

5.1 channels are actually 6 total channels of sound... so yes you have front left and right as well as rear left and right... you also have front center AND sub

however.. just cos the USB soundcard supports 5.1 channels.. does not mean you have to use all 5.1channels.. most of us just use 2.1 or 4.1 channels
