how do I make carputer sound play at the same time as HU

What it says in the title: How do I make carputer sound play at the same time as the sound coming from the HU (i.e. radio or cd) Is there a way to split the audio wire going from the HU to the amp and feeding in the sound from the computer? Thanks!

this is not gonna be easy. If you have two devices playing to the same amp/speaker, the signal doesn't know which way to travel. When it signal hits a junction it doesn't know whether to go towards the other sound source or towards the speaker. It will try to go both ways, so if you have two sounds devices, they might interfere with each other. I know that when i had a HU and a CARPC hooked up at the same time it made a hideous noise, the noise only disappeared when one device wa hooked up at a time,

im no expert, but you might be able to pull it off with diodes, but that may drop the voltage too much

The signal "doesn't know whether to go towards the other sound source or towards the speaker"? No offense, but... well, you might want to review some basic electronics.

It's true though, you don't want to just combine two sources with a Y cable. The problem is that both sources try to drive the signal; this can potentially damage the source equipment too, since they aren't designed to sink current.

What you want is a mixer. Try searching on it, since it has been covered numerous times already, and if you still have questions you can come back with them.

it is true that the signal will try to travel down each end of the y splitter, depending on the signal encountered, but you are right that my terminoligy was absolutly horrible. anyway, I prolly do need a refresher
