Ok with alittle more duct tape this could be the next bazooka tube. Even customized with your favorite plaster pal so you look all ruged and such. Actually sounds good btw.

interesting concept. I wonder if you could improve it by laying fiberglass/bondo mix all around it......so you could place a wooden ring at the end that you can screw into, and maybe not make it sound so hollow when the sub hits

I wonder if people use buckets to find the appropriate volume. I know people usually make a box....fill it with popcorn peanuts......but i guess you could use a bucket......fill it with water....weigh the water...and calculate it that way....cut the bucket rim down to the correct height/or just draw a line.....then just use the bucket as a template for the box.........maybe wrap it in tin foil....and fiberglass the outside....so the bucket can be removed.

that gives me another idea for finding volume. You could fill a bag with water.....then use those things that reseal bags to seal the correct volume of water needed to make the box. Cutt of the excess.....now you have a bag of water......the same volume you need.......the idea here is that you can mold the box to whatever shape.....as long as the bag barley fits in there.....you could build the box around the bag. When your done and the box is dry....pop the bag.

the titles "sub in a box"...bucket?

well anyway... buckets are abs, abs isnt a very good material for acoustics, hence why fiberglass and mdf is the most common. even walmart makes their speakers boxes out of mdf

I wouldn't call the crap that walmart's boxes are made out of MDF. That stuff ain't even suitable for shelves in public restrooms.

I bought a double 8" woofer Road-Master and took out the speakers and....I have taken wood working in highschool 4 times. I work with wood everyday. It is defently MDF. 1/2" MDF. 3/4" in the front.

I was making a joke with the "LDF." maybe they recently got cheaper.
